Is Being an Entrepreneur in Your Blood?
I’ve been an entrepreneur for over 15 years. And during that time, I have assisted, trained and supported hundreds of women entrepreneurs with starting and growing their business. Through this experience, I have come to understand what it takes to be a successful woman entrepreneur. Lori Dernavich shares her insight in her article Do You Have What It Takes to Be an Entrepreneur?.
Lori focuses on the three traits of being fearless, insightful and organized. I totally agree with Lori as all these are definitely necessary in order to have a successful business.
However, I will add one more trait to her list. And that is mindset. Mindset includes believing in yourself as well as getting out of your own way. Many women entrepreneurs allow either their lack of confidence or over inflated ego to get in their way of achieving success. “You don’t know what you don’t know.”
Listening is a skill that is all too often dismissed. We are given advice or steps to take every day to help us achieve success. This comes from overhearing a conversation, listening to a podcast, reading a book or getting advice from another business professional. This doesn’t mean that we need to run off and act upon everything we hear, but it does mean that we need to stop, listen and digest the information.
What other traits do you think that a woman needs in order to be a successful entrepreneur?
